HOPE – Silence

The 11th hour on the 11th day on the 11th month of 1918 marked the end of World War 1

In 2018, HOPE, one of our partners, held a series of events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this historic date. S2 were tasked with producing a collection of advertising materials and booklets, geared at motivating churches and individuals to get involved to mark this centenary Remembrance Day.

Developing their Remembrance100 strategy, HOPE commissioned a collection of booklets to be created. The first, entitled ‘Silence’, was created based on the ‘two minutes’ silence observed each year on Remembrance Day. We researched and adapted historic archive footage with distressed typography to appeal to a 21st century audience. The booklet also held a timeline which changed tonally, as it ran through the booklet, to represent the transition from war to peace. Over 300,000 copies were ordered and purchased prior to the day.

S2 were asked to create the brochure, signage and advertising

In addition to Silence, a booklet entitled ‘100 years of Peace & Hope’ was created to aid personal devotion alongside an online advertising campaign.

Additionally, in Eastbourne, a year-long exhibition was created documenting the effect of the war on the area. S2 were asked to create the brochure, signage and advertising ‘reflecting the look and feel of Remembrance100’ into branding for the Eastbourne initiative.
